Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does it work?

A: Our wireless towers transmit at 2.4GHz, 5.8GHz, and 900MHz depending on the topography and distance of the location. These towers are directly connected to our fiber backbone. An antenna and radio will be installed at the customer location to associate with the tower. The radio passes the connection via ethernet to the customer's PC.

Q: Is USA Choice Wireless secure?

A: YES, our wireless network is extremely secure. Wireless Internet technology was originally designed for military communication. Radios will not even “talk” to another radio or tower unless it is known USA Choice equipment, due to unique identifiers. Our equipment utilizes frequency hopping technology, which allows the signal to randomly hop between 79 frequencies 10-35 times per second, making it nearly impossible to “hack”. If a radio should be compromised, the signal would hop again, leaving the frequency that was “hacked”.

Q: Is USA Choice Wireless Affected by the Weather?

A: NO, USA Choice Wireless is not affected by adverse weather conditions. Different broadband technologies such as satellite connections will suffer due to heavy rain, snow, ice, etc. Our wireless service will remain unaffected. Our towers and antennas are grounded to prevent lightning strikes.

Q: My laptop has a wireless card, can I connect?

A: No, although our wireless does use a similiar 802.11 protocol the common wireless networking products will not connect to our towers. A fixed antenna must be installed.
